Fabulous First Year
Your fabulous first year is the first chapter in your time at the University of Leicester. Your first year at Leicester is a journey of discovery, and we are here to help you find your feet. Here to help you thrive, flourish and enjoy an experience that is everything you imagined, and more. Here at Leicester, you will be well supported every step of the way. You'll be able to give us feedback throughout your student journey, using our app, so we can continually improve during your time with us.
The following are just some of the ways that you'll be able to 'make the most of you' during your time at Leicester:
You'll have the opportunity to work with a 2nd or 3rd year student mentor who can offer you tips and guidance based on their own experiences at Leicester.
Find key University information with our handy app
Our app allows you to check your timetable, find a PC or access University news - all in one place! We’d also love to hear about your student experience - tell us about it using the app.
Career Development Support is embedded within the first year curriculum. This means that you'll be on track for finding your perfect role right from the start of your time at University. Our aim is to ensure that you are equipped for a lifetime of career success by providing you with invaluable experiences that will enhance your CV and boost your skills.
Finding your feet in halls
Living in University accommodation is about much more than the four walls you sleep in, it’s about an all-round experience which gives you the chance to make new friends, enjoy yourself, learn new skills and study within your residence. Our Residence Life team is here to provide all of this, as well as to support you if things aren’t going quite so well.
Read at Leicester
Reading – all sorts of reading – is key to academic success so every new student joining us this year will receive a free copy Truman Capote’s classic novel ‘In Cold Blood’ – the ‘Making a Murderer’ of its day. For more about reading, literature, related services and ways to get involved, take a look at the range of services in our Library.
We have a broad range of support services on hand to provide you with help if, and when, you might need it. You can access help for anything from Dyslexia or disabilities to finance and housing advice to counselling.
