Before you get here

Congratulations on getting your place at the University of Leicester!

We want you to have an enjoyable, enlightening and rewarding time with us. To make joining Leicester simple we have covered the key things you need to do before you arrive at University. Do them as soon as you can, in the order we’ve suggested below, and you won’t go far wrong – but don’t forget that the Starting at Leicester team is on hand to help if you encounter any difficulties. You can contact them at starting@le.ac.uk

All new students are guaranteed an offer of a place in University-allocated accommodation, provided that you accept your place on a course and apply for accommodation by 1 September 2016. Every effort will be made to give you your first choice of accommodation; however this may not always be possible.

You will receive an email with arrival information and instructions in September.

If you have any questions or need any advice, you can contact the Accommodation Team at accommodation@le.ac.uk.

MyStudentRecord is exactly that: your online student record throughout your studies with us. You can use it to keep your personal details up-to-date, view your timetable, choose your modules, and get those all-important module marks. Setting up your MyStudentRecord account is easy and only takes a couple of minutes.

Brush your hair, touch up your makeup, and give us a smile because we need a photo of you. Just like a passport photo, there are rules for this photo. (We can't use a holiday snap!)

We’ll use the photo you send us to produce your University ID card.

In order to have your University ID card ready for you when you arrive, we must receive your photo by 5 September 2016. All students who upload their photo by 5 September 2016 will be entered into a prize draw to win a £100 cashless catering card which you can use to buy food and drink across the University's outlets.

However your fees are being paid - whether you have a student loan, a sponsor, or you're paying for yourself - you will need to make sure that everything is set up for the money to reach us in time.

You might look like a student, feel like a student and think like a student, but until you’ve completed online registration, you’re not officially a student of the University of Leicester!

We will send you an email when it’s time to register online (after you've paid, or made arrangements to pay, your tuition fees). This email will contain a link to MyStudentRecord where you can begin the process which only takes a few minutes. Completing online registration will also create your University of Leicester IT account.
