Fast-Paced Study in Respiratory Research
Emily Castells - Leicester Respiratory Biomedical Research Unit
This image is of a PhD student working swiftly in the confocal immunofluorescence lab at the University. Hours are spent in this cold room, capturing images of human lung myofibroblasts which have been stained by immunofluorescence to visualise the co-localisation of molecules on the cell’s surface. This image demonstrates how much effort is constantly imputed by researchers to aid the understanding of pathology in idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF). Each hour takes us closer to enhancing the lives of the thousands suffering from IPF.
