Module Outline

This module introduces students to the broad theoretical perspectives and debates concerning the relationship between modern communication technologies and the nature of contemporary social structures and practices. It will provide students with a critical appraisal of the ways in which this relationship is, and has been, conceptualised and understood and will explore the potential social impacts of new communications technologies.

Module unit exercises, independent research, written module guides and tutor input including feedback on assignments.

Assessment

  • Written assignment, 3,000-4,000 words (100%)
