Module Outline

Students completing this module will be able to identify and critically evaluate a framework for the comparative analysis of media systems; they will be familiar with and understand the limitations of available international statistics of UNESCO and other international organisations; have an understanding of different historical models of media development and be able to assess how well or how poorly these map on to the contemporary geo-political divisions of the world; know and be able to discuss significant global trends in media technologies, economics, and markets, and be able to relate these both generally, to the major geo-political regions of the world.

Module unit exercises, independent research, written module guides and tutor input including feedback on assignments.
