This module examines the changing Chinese media landscape in the post‐reform and new media era. It looks at the key theoretical issues and debates surrounding Chinese media. The module discusses how China’s media system and journalism is shaped by contextual factors, such as the state, the market and journalism culture. It also discusses the implications of new media technologies for Chinese mainstream news media and society.
