Global Communication: Self-Expression and Identity in the 21st Century
Module code: ML7010
Module co-ordinator: Dr Elizabeth Jones
In this module you will examine the proliferation of narratives of selfhood that has occurred in recent times, as individuals take advantage of new technologies to construct and communicate their identities in a variety of formats. Moving on from traditional autobiography and memoir genres, constrained as they were by the power relations inbuilt into publishing industries, we will look at the ways in which ‘ordinary’ people increasingly express themselves via blogs, webpages and other media forms.
