Teaching and Learning Methods
This module is taught via a combination of practical lectures and workshops where students will have ample opportunities to practise translating semi-specialised texts related to the following domains: science, social science and law. Non-assessed formative tasks, including directed reading tasks and translation assignments, are integrated into the syllabus. Students will be encouraged to discuss their translations with classmates, sharing good translation practice, and to participate in Blackboard discussions and tasks outside the scheduled workshops.
Students will be assessed by way of a translation portfolio consisting of three translations of 500 words each and a commentary on their translation decisions of 1,000 words.
