The Law of Armed Conflict
Module code: LW7166
Module co-ordinator: Dr Eki Omorogbe
This module aims to provide you with an understanding of the law of armed conflict. The module focuses on key legal provisions and principles regulating how international and internal armed conflicts are fought. It critically analyses the legal rules, particularly those on the rules of engagement, and shows the challenge of applying these in the context of contemporary armed conflicts. Other issues considered include the legal responsibility of states and UN forces for crimes committed by their troops, and the duties of an occupying power.
