Issues and Procedures in European Union Competition Law

The aim of this module is to introduce you to merger control in the EU, the procedures by which EU competition law is enforced, Article 106, the control of state aids and either competition law and intellectual property or control of cartels.
By the end of this module, a typical student will be able to:
- Explain and discuss the EU system of merger control
- Debate methods of public and private enforcement
- Analyse the working of Article 106 TFEU and the control of state aids in the EU
- Be able to critically reflect on the social and economic context within which these legal principles operate
