Module Overview

This module provides an introduction to the theory and practice of media archiving, based on the resources held by the Media Archive of Central England (MACE). It will cover the history of the film preservation movement and role of both national and regional archives in preserving the moving image heritage. It will consider the issues of archive management and policy, including preservation, access, cataloguing and funding. It will provide an opportunity for you to gain skills and experience in handling archival materials through a practical project based on the holdings of MACE. The module will provide ideal background and experience for anyone interested in pursuing a career in archive work.
