Module Overview

This is a core module for both Film Studies and History of Art students. The long essay will be based largely on students' own independent work, which will be supervised by a member of staff. This includes planning, drafting, writing and revising a long essay of 5,000 words, under the guidance of their supervisor. Through independent study, students will be aware of the value of specific transferable skills in the production of their research.

Teaching and Learning Methods

  • 4 hours of Seminars (2 x 2 hours)
  • 3 hours of tutorials 
  • 193 hours of guided independent study
