Critical Digital Geographies

Module code: GY3425

This module takes an intellectual and critical focus to digital geographies, and seeks to unpack a range of contemporary issues encountered when applying spatial digital technologies. These broad themes include cartographic communication (traditional, web, mobile and VR), uncertainty of information, participation, privacy and philosophy. We will consider contemporary debates within the ‘digital turn’ such as the dark web, ‘smart’ cities, the Internet of things and augmented reality.
