Welsh Basin Stratigraphy Field Course
Module code: GL2012
Module co-ordinator: Professor Mark Williams
This fieldwork module will improve your understanding of the development, evolution, and demise of a sedimentary basin that persisted for 150 million years. During the nineteenth century, two great scientists, Roderick Murchison and Adam Sedgwick, did battle here for the supremacy of their Silurian and Cambrian systems. We visit the classic geological sites, explore their sedimentology, palaeontology, and structural setting, and examine perhaps the best known fossil marine sedimentary basin anywhere on planet Earth.
This module consists of fieldwork.
