Households and Families in the Past

Module code: AR3550

Module co-ordinator: Dr Penelope Allison

For a lot of prehistory and history people have lived within something that could be described as a family group or a household, and the purpose of this module is to look at the archaeological and historical evidence which relates directly to understanding more about these social structures in the past. Case studies include Roman Pompeii, Pharaonic Egypt, Medieval Europe, and the different sorts of households in each are analysed and compared.
