The archaeology of the modern world is an exciting and new subject to study. Exploring the ways in which the world has changed in the last 500 years, this module looks at the ways in which European countryside and towns were transformed after the medieval period, and the major impact of the industrial revolution. Conquest and colonialism are also important themes in historical archaeology, and examples from South America, the Caribbean, North America and Africa are all presented and discussed.
This module is studied by distance learning. Teaching materials will include a module workbook and set readings, some of which may be delivered through Blackboard.
