This module is an intensive two-week programme of archaeological fieldwork. Working with other students in small groups, you will learn how to perform a series of archaeological field recording techniques at a basic level, and improve your understanding of the workings and techniques of modern archaeological fieldwork
You will be on site for seven hours each day. There will be three guided tours of the site and its archaeological remains which will help you to place the excavation in its broader archaeological context.
- 2 hours of lectures
- 70 hours of fieldwork
- 28 hours of guided independent study
- There will be a single field test that assesses your knowledge of archaeological excavation and recording practice.
