  • The USA and the world
  • Tension between rural life/values and the urban destiny of the United States
  • Race, class, and gender in American life
  • Ideology in American life and politics

  • Twenty one-hour lectures
  • Six one-hour seminars

Assessment

  • Exam (80%)
  • A 2,000-word essay (20%)
  • A seminar presentation (this is compulsory but not assessed)
