Contemporary Political Philosophy: Theories of Justice

Module code: PL2027

Social justice is a term often bandied around on social media, usually in a pejorative manner. You can trace the history behind it back to St Augustine, but recently, it has become a battleground, as thinkers, philosophers and users of social media argue over its place and relevance in today's society. This module focuses on theories of justice but will introduce you to many of the core political philosophies of our time.

You'll examine various philosophical and theoretical arguments about social justice and its significance, thinking critically, analytically, and conceptually. You'll also gain an understanding of the nature and methods of political philosophy as a whole.
