Research Project 3

Module code: NT3001

The Third Year Project is a substantial piece of individual research work (30 credits; equivalent to at least 300 hours of student work over the year). The project is a culmination of your research training and subject learning to date and your opportunity to follow a significant piece of work to completion. At the start of the year each student will be given a choice of projects from the Departments of Chemistry, Physics & Astronomy and the School of Biological Sciences.

  • Hypothesis testing
  • Analysis and data presentation
  • Literature searching and interpretation
  • Presentation of key findings in the form of a report and viva
  • Discussion of project findings and their wider context

  • Development of open-source software for real-time analysis of single-molecule interactions in super-resolution microscopy images, by multithreading and/or a GPU
