Management accounting is critical to decision-making within businesses and organisations, and this module will introduce you to advanced techniques and tools used in the field.

Techniques such as planning, budgeting and costing are omnipresent now, but where did they come from? What are their strengths and limitations both historically and today? This module will allow you to explore this in closer detail.

You’ll explore various key management accounting concepts and investigate accounting techniques used in short-term and long-term managerial decision-making reflecting on their strengths and weaknesses. You'll learn about different costing methodologies and the need for planning and controlling and the role of budgeting in these activities. Plus, you’ll examine different frameworks for performance measurement and the dilemmas involved in performance measurement design.
