Approaches to Cinema History

The module provides a comprehensive introduction to cinema history. We will consider the different approaches to writing film history – aesthetic, technological, economic and social histories – and will also consider ‘how to do cinema history’ with weeks focusing on researching histories of production, censorship, reception and audiences.
