Methods and Modelling in Palaeoclimatology

Module code: GL7111

The Earth has been on a four billion years journey of climate change, which you'll explore during this module. You'll look at the co-evolution of Earth’s systems, of its lithosphere, hydrosphere, atmosphere and biosphere and the geological record of these patterns. You'll examine how the climate changed in the deep past, and evaluate the chemical, sedimentological and fossil markers of this change. And you'll integrate geological data with numerical climate models to examine past, present and future climate change.

At the end of this module you will understand the drivers of natural climate change. You will understand how humans are changing the climate and be able to communicate the impacts of this to your peers and colleagues. You will be able to interact decisively with those who deny humans are causing rapid climate change. And you will understand the global impact of humans on Earth’s systems.
