Detective Fiction from Sherlock Holmes to the Second World War
Module code: EN3169
From Sherlock Holmes to the Second World War, this module will consider how the forms and themes of detective fiction developed between the late Victorian period and the mid-twentieth century. You'll assess the role of detective fiction in both conveying and critiquing social attitudes, particularly in relation to gender and social 'deviance', and you'll develop an awareness of both contemporary and historical critical debates about this form.
