Engineering Experimentation

Module code: EG1004

Experimentation forms a crucial part of the foundation of an engineer’s career. The ability to safely carry out an experiment/test/measurement, and accurately record and analyse experimental results data, is a sought-after skill in engineering industries. Along with experimentation is the ability to make use of computational tools for data analysis, such as MATLAB as well as the skill of academic report-writing.

In EG1004, students carry out different experiments and tests touching on fundamental principles in material strength and testing, fluid flow, control theory, electrical/electronic signals and systems, thermodynamics, Arduino programming etc. Students are also taught how to proficiently use MATLAB for data analysis and have the opportunity to produce academic lab reports based on one of the labs taken each semester.

This module is aimed at honing the curious mind of our engineering students while also developing their academic writing and computational abilities.
