This module will outline the basic concepts and instruments of mathematical modelling and explain existing models for real world phenomena. We will explore several particular classes of mathematical models, (physics, chemical kinetics, ecological dynamics, economical games, and global dynamics). In this module you will have the opportunity to create simple mathematical models for real world applications in economics, financial and social systems, and interpret the results. Building on the analysis skills you have acquired you will analyse the models with special attention to anticipation of critical transitions and communicate the results.
