Module code: MA3513 (double module)
The purpose of the project is for you to complete a substantial individual project, perhaps working as part of a team, with a strong business connection, involving identification of a mathematical or statistical model for a suitable application problem and perhaps the development, and implementation of a computational method. In doing this, you will assimilate information from a variety of sources and demonstrate the ability to pursue an extended period of independent study of some depth.
During the first part of the project, you will identify an application problem, generate a proper project description, and write a project plan with associated implementation details. During this module you will conduct an independent study with guidance from a member of staff, write progress report and a structured thesis on an application of mathematics in business, and give an oral and visual presentation to a group of peers, staff, and a business partner.
