Geographical Research in the Field (Human Geography Overseas Field Course)

In semester two of the second year, Human Geographers take a field course training module that culminates in a one week trip to a North American City. You'll develop skills in preparation for your independent project work, particularly that of the final year dissertation.This urban field trip to Vancouver is organised around themes including:
- The politics of housing and gentrification
- International migration and settlement in historical and contemporary times, and the impact of these processes on urban society
- Vancouver’s plan to become the greenest city and what this may mean for environmental justice in the city
- Colonialism, dispossession and the opportunity for students to learn from indigenous peoples about their struggles against inequality
