Module code: AR7029

This module is a longer dissertation project, comprising 90 credits and 20,000 words. It presents the opportunity to develop and carry out a detailed and sustained research project on a topic that interests you. You’ll produce a structured piece of writing that will make use of scholarly sources and be presented in a professional manner.

Your research will be established in relation to relevant literature and you’ll show how your own ideas and theories respond to it. Relevant primary or secondary data will be synthesised in your research, and you’ll use methodologies to analyse and interpret material to develop original conclusions. The longer form of this dissertation means it can be excellent preparation for a PhD project.

Your dissertation supervisor will be there to support you through regular meetings. They will discuss the content and structure of your research as well as give feedback on drafts, and suggest further reading that could illuminate your research.
