Geospatial Data Analytics

This module focuses on the tools for geospatial data analysis.  The theory and methods for modelling and analysing geospatial data have been refined particularly over the last decade as GIS has transitioned to GIScience, and towards data-led Spatial Data Science.  The lectures cover the theory behind major processing techniques in geospatial data analysis, as well as their application to real world problems, how information and knowledge can be extracted from geospatial data, and in particular making use of the R programming environment. Practical exercises focus on how these tools are operationalised in R.  On completion of this module, students will have not only a good understanding of geospatial data analysis but be able to implement strategies for practical analysis using opensource tools.
