Medicine in UCAS Extra

Leicester Medical School has been awarded additional places for 2019 entry on its Medicine MBChB A100 course and is therefore open for applications from UK/EU applicants in UCAS Extra.

If you have no offers and have used all four of your medicine choices then you may be able to apply to University of Leicester through UCAS Extra provided you meet our entry requirements.

A100 Medicine MBChB 5 year Course

UCAS Extra will be open until 5.00pm on Monday 3 June 2019.

Entry Requirements

In order to submit an application through UCAS Extra, you must meet all the following entry requirements to be considered for a place: academic entry requirements, UCAT and interview.

Please note we will NOT consider applicants with predicted A-levels or predicted degrees. We will also NOT consider applicants who have been interviewed already in the 2019/20 UCAS cycle.

Academic entry requirements

In order for your application to be considered, you must meet both the GCSE and A-level (or equivalent) requirements.

GSCE Requirements

You need grade of B or 6 in GCSE English Language, Maths, Chemistry and Biology/Physics or Double Science.

A-level Requirements

We will consider applicants who have completed their A-levels within the last two years of taking their GCSEs and who have attained minimum of AAA or A*AB in Chemistry, one of Biology or Physics or Psychology, and a third academic subject in a two-year period, and are within two years of leaving school.

We do not accept General Studies, Critical Thinking, Global Perspectives (Cambridge Pre-U) or the Welsh Baccalaureate Skills Challenge Certificate.

Graduate Applicants

We will only consider applicants who have already attained a 2:1 or first degree classification in a BSc Hons or equivalent within the last two years alongside the GCSE requirement of a minimum grade B or 6 in English Language, Maths, Chemistry and Biology/Physics or Double Science and A-level requirement of minimum grade B in Chemistry or Biology.

UCAT

We will only consider applicants who have sat the UCAT (UKCAT) in 2018 and have a total score greater than 2,360 with a Situational Judgement Band between 1 and 3.

Interview

Applicants who meet all the entry criteria and have not been interviewed previously in the 2019/20 UCAS cycle may be invited to interviews depending on our availability. Interviews are in an MMI format and will take place on Friday 14 June at the George Davies Centre.

You will be informed of the results of your interview by 11 July 2019 at the latest.

A199 Medicine with a Foundation Year

UCAS Extra will be open from 9.00am on Monday 15 April 2019 until 5.00pm on Monday 3 June 2019.

Entry Requirements

In order to submit an application through UCAS Extra, you must meet all the following entry requirements to be considered for a place: academic entry requirements, UCAT, the widening participation criteria and interview.

Please note we will only consider applicants from the East Midlands and who have not been interviewed already in the 2019/20 UCAS cycle.

The East Midlands consists of the following UK counties:

  • Derbyshire
  • Leicestershire
  • Lincolnshire (excluding North Lincolnshire and North East Lincolnshire)
  • Northamptonshire
  • Nottinghamshire
  • Rutland

Academic entry requirements

In order for your application to be considered, you must meet both the GCSE (or equivalent) and A-level (or equivalent) requirements.

GSCE Requirements

You need grade of C or 5 in GCSE English Language, Maths, Chemistry and Biology/Physics or Double Science.

A-level Requirements

You need to have achieved or predicted a minimum BBB in Chemistry and Biology and a third academic subject in a two-year period. We will also consider a BTEC National Extended Diploma in Applied Science with achieved/predicted DDD. You must be within two years of leaving school. 

UCAT

We will only consider applicants who have sat the UCAT (UKCAT) in 2018 and have a total score greater than 2200 with a Situational Judgement Band between 1 and 3.

Widening Participation Criteria

Applicants who meets all the entry criteria and have not been interviewed previously in the 2019/20 UCAS cycle will be ranked and may be invited to interviews depending on our availability. Interviews are in an MMI format and be taking place on Friday 14 June at the George Davies Centre.
