If you would prefer to try out some low commitment, remote and flexible volunteering, below are some organisations and charities who need the support of volunteers like you.

NHS volunteer responders

Volunteer Responders has been set up to support the NHS and the social care sector during the COVID-19 pandemic. To do this we need an 'army' of volunteers who can support vulnerable people in England who are at most risk from the virus to stay well.

Hullo phone volunteer

Hullo are always looking for volunteers who enjoy a good chat, are welcoming and friendly, have excellent communication skills, and appreciate how important conversation is to people’s lives.

Post Pals

Post Pals is a volunteer-run charity which helps you to ‘Post a Smile on a Sick Child’s Face’ by the sending of cards, letters, emails and little gifts to seriously ill children and their siblings in the UK. It couldn’t be easier for anyone of any age around the world to get involved, requires no commitment and costs only a stamp and 5 minutes of your time.

Positivity by Post

Positivity by Post aims to spread kindness by sending out positive cards, small packages for free to anyone who has a chronic illness, disability or mental health condition in the UK.

Be My Eyes

Be My Eyes goal is to make the world more accessible to people who are blind or have a low level of vision.

Dementia Friends

A Dementia Friend is somebody that learns about dementia, so they can help their community. The role is open to anyone who wants to help people with dementia.

FCancer

FCancer allows you to offer your skills by the hour to support cancer charities. Examples include photography, coding, writing and design to help the campaign to beat cancer.

Missing Maps

Missing Maps is an open, collaborative project in which you can help to map areas where humanitarian organisations are trying to meet the needs of vulnerable people.

Zooniverse

The Zooniverse is the world’s largest and most popular platform for people-powered research. This research is made possible by volunteers, with more than a million people around the world who come together to assist professional researchers. You don’t need any specialised background, training, or expertise to participate in any Zooniverse projects.
