Ventilation improvements project
The Library has had longstanding issues with ventilation and temperature control and work is now underway to improve the study environment for students and staff. This work will allow the re-opening of study spaces that currently are closed due to poor ventilation.
From Tuesday 4 May some sections of the David Wilson Library will be temporarily closed on a rolling basis through to the 12th July whilst significant improvements are made to the ventilation on the second and third floor of the building.
The Library will remain open, however, certain areas of the building will be closed for study.
Third floor silent zone will be closed from the 6 May until the 11 June
Second floor silent silent zone will be closed from the 13 May until the 11 June
Books and journals in these areas will remain accessible to Library staff and a daily retrieval service will be in operation, please use our click and collect service to request books and journals with the following locations: 3 Blue and 3 Orange; 2 Blue and 2 Orange
Our click and collect service is available for all University of Leicester staff and students with items available, when ready, from the collection point in the Digital Reading Room. You can place requests via Library Search on the Library homepage.
We are aiming for most of the noisiest building work to be carried out when the library is closed but unfortunately, there will be some noise whilst the work is taking place.
If you’d prefer to study elsewhere whilst during this time, we have opened up other study spaces across campus.
