Mona Bafadhel is an Associate Professor, NIHR Fellow and the current Kemp Post-Doctoral Fellow in the Medical Sciences at Lincoln College. She is also a Respiratory Consultant Physician and Associate Professor of respiratory medicine at the Nuffield Department of Clinical Medicine (University of Oxford).
Professor Bafadhel undertook her junior medical training in Birmingham and the Royal Brompton Hospital, London. Having developed an interest in respiratory medicine, she completed specialist training in the Oxford deanery and obtained her PhD, focused on COPD and the identification of distinct therapeutic sub-groups, from the University of Leicester.
Her research interests include the identification of mechanisms and therapeutic strategies aligned to using phenotypes of COPD, with a focus on understanding the pathophysiology of COPD as determined by these identified clinical phenotypes and delivering therapeutic strategies to patients across the translational spectrum. Professor Bafadhel’s research has been published extensively in high-impact journals.
