About the Department of Infection, Immunity and Inflammation
We are a large department with over 200 members of staff and postgraduate students, including 35 academic staff. The department is led by Professor Andy Wardlaw with Dr Shaun Heaphy as the deputy.
We have excellent facilities for research with well-equipped laboratories. As part of the College of Life Sciences, we have access to a range of shared facilities: Core Biotechnology Service (CBS) provides items essential to the modern research biologist (including genomics and proteomics facilities, electron and confocal microscopes, Containment Level 3 Suite and electronic and mechanical workshops).
The Department of Infection, Immunity and Inflammation is committed to providing an excellent working environment for all staff regardless of gender, race or sexual orientation.
We are committed to support women in science. We are delighted to hold a Silver Athena SWAN Award, which recognises the advancement of gender equality. This level of award acknowledges significant and sustained progression and achievement in promoting gender equality. We are now striving to further embed a progressive, equality driven environment in which all our staff can thrive.
