Digital summer school

Welcome to Summer School

Welcome to the University of Leicester Digital Summer School 2020! We are delighted you are able to join us online for what should be a truly memorable week. This is your homepage for the Summer School, think of it as your central hub for all the activities taking place across all 5 days. Have a look around here and use the links in the grey box below to jump straight to the most useful information. You should also have received an email containing the summer school handbook. This should answer most questions you might have, and most importantly tells you what you need to do each day and how to make the most of your Digital Summer School experience. Throw yourself into every activity you can and we hope you have a brilliant week with us.

Subject lectures

This is where you can find all of the academic subject taster lectures created especially for this Summer School. You will need to watch some of these to be able to fully take part in the seminar and tutorial follow-up sessions on Thursday. We’ve organised them by academic strands, so have a browse through all five pages. A big part of your summer school experience is trying something new and this is the place to start. There are also loads of other taster lectures from other departments in the Resources section further down this page.

Group challenge

This is the week-long challenge that your summer school mentor group will be working on.

  • Look at your programme to see when your group meeting sessions are being held, and try to attend as many as you can.
  • Refer to the group challenge section in the summer school handbook
  • Remember to check your group’s online learning space

These are some of the other key resources you will need this week

  • We have additional subject taster lectures for all of our undergraduate courses available from our recent offer holder day for year 13s.
  • Skills based sessions (Student Finance, Personal Statements, Study Skills and much more...)

Social media

“Put your phone away in class”. Ok, that’s good advice when you’re in your actual school. But this is Digital Summer School 2020. This is different. We want tweets. We want a great Insta story. Might even get the mentors on Tik-Tok…
Here are our channels. You know what to do.
