Welcome to Summer School

Welcome to the University of Leicester Digital Medicine Summer School 2020! We are delighted you are able to join us online for what should be a truly memorable week. This is your homepage for the Summer School, think of it as your central hub for all the activities taking place across all 5 days. Have a look around here and use the links in the grey box below to jump straight to the most useful information. You will have been emailed a copy of the summer school handbook. This should answer most questions you might have, and most importantly tells you what you need to do each day and how to make the most of your Digital Medicine Summer School experience. Throw yourself into every activity you can and we hope you have a brilliant week with us.

Pre recorded lectures and activties

Alongside the brilliant and wide-ranging programme of live sessions, there are also a number of pre-recorded lectures and useful videos to help you complete the week's activities. You’ll find a suggested day-by-day approach to these in your handbook, but you are free to access these resources whenever you like! You’ll learn about the Cardiovascular system, prepare for MMI and UCAT discussions, experience what empathy means in a clinical setting, discover the critical skill of reflection and much more.

Group challenge

This is the week-long challenge that your summer school mentor group will be working on.

  • Your group will work through a fictitious stroke patient case across 4 varied sessions, led by your group mentor (current Leicester Medical Student).
  • Look at your programme to see when your group meeting sessions are being held, and try to attend as many as you can.
  • Refer to the group challenge section in the summer school handbook and separate group challenge document emailed to you.

These are some of the other key resources you will need this week

Social media

“Put your phone away in class”. Ok, that’s good advice when you’re in your actual school. But this is Digital Summer School 2020. This is different. We want tweets. We want a great Insta story. Might even get the mentors on Tik-Tok…
Here are our channels. You know what to do.
