Dr Yeela Lahav-Raz
My name is Dr Yeela Lahv-Raz, I'm a sociologist who is researching sex work regulations and politics, mainly in Israel. My PhD. dissertation-from the Ben-Gurion University (Israel) dealt with the intersections between sexuality, masculinity and technology by focusing on an Israeli online community of sex clients.
After receiving the post-doctoral scholarship from the ISF (Israeli Science Foundation), I am currently an honorary lecturer in the Criminology department at the University of Leicester, working under the guidance of Prof. Teela Sanders.
I am about to conduct comparative research on sex tourism online communities in Israel and the UK in the aim of expanding current knowledge about the global capitalist order, neo-colonialist trends, and relationships between global elites and local marginal populations. I am also interested in understanding how and in what ways technology has become a dominant actor in the sex tourism arena.
