Course description
Course description
This course draws on cutting edge expertise from three Schools in our College of Science and Engineering, and will provide you with practical skills in computation in a range of languages and professional software. You will also develop a clear understanding of the theory of common numerical modelling methods.
What's the difference?
If you complete the modules but not the project, you will qualify for a Postgraduate Diploma (PGDip). If you complete only some of the modules, you may qualify for a Postgraduate Certificate (PGCert).
Entry requirements
Entry requirements
At least a 2:2 degree (or international equivalent) in Maths, Physics or Engineering.
English Language Requirements
IELTS 6.0 or equivalent. If your first language is not English, you may need to provide evidence of your English language ability. If you do not yet meet our requirements, our English Language Teaching Unit (ELTU) offers a range of courses to help you to improve your English to the necessary standard.

NB. The additional fee for the 'MSc with industry' variant is not charged if, for whatever reason, you are unable to secure a placement.
If you are resident outside the UK and the Republic of Ireland, you will need to pay a deposit of £2,000 to secure your place. This will be subtracted from your total tuition fee.

Teaching and learning
Teaching is a combination of lectures, workshops, independent work, group and team work, supervised study and directed reading. Assessment is a mixture of written exams, marked assignments, assessed problems, oral presentations and written project reports.
