National lockdown updates
We are now urgently working with the latest measures to ensure we are operating in a compliant and safe way. Above all, we are working hard to ensure that none of you are disadvantaged academically as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. We are still expecting further Government guidance and information, so we will continue to update you through your student email address.
Based on the Government’s roadmap we have planned how we will fully reopen the University - visit our roadmap page for further information.
If you wish to travel home for the Easter vacation, particularly if your course resumed in-person teaching from the beginning of term or due to your mental health, you can travel home once before Thursday 29 April. You can travel back to term-time accommodation at any time. If you have only just returned to university, on Monday 8 March, the Government has requested you to not travel wherever possible. This is to minimise transmission of COVID-19.
You should only travel if you have no current COVID-19 symptoms and it is recommended that you take two COVID-19 lateral flow tests three to four days apart with the final test being within 24 hours of your planned travel. You can book to get tested at Charles Wilson or The Village.
If you test positive, you will be required by law to self-isolate for 10 days and should not travel.
You should then get tested again before you travel back to the University, where community testing facilities are available. Once you return to the University you should test as soon as you can on return and from then onwards get tested twice a week.
