About the University of Leicester

In celebration of HM The Queen's Platinum Jubilee, the traditional Bank Holiday Monday at the end of May has been replaced in 2022 with a double Bank Holiday on the first Thursday and Friday of June. The University will be therefore closed on Thursday 2 June and Friday 3 June.

There will be a wide range of activities on campus over the three days before the Bank Holiday: Monday 30 May, Tuesday 31 May and Wednesday 1 June. The Platinum Jubilee is unprecedented in British history so don't miss your chance to join in with the celebrations.

  • The Library is open 24/7 over the Jubilee weekend.
  • There will be no Library staffed services on Thursday 2 June and Friday 3 June. Instead, the Library will be staffed by University Security.
