A Leicester graduate, Carole Thorogood qualified as a solicitor in 1983. She practised as a property lawyer for the first 14 years of her career, before joining Freeth Cartwright (now Freeths) LLP in 1997 to assist with the running of the company’s HR department. Now the company's HR Director she heads up a team of HR professionals responsible for 750 staff in 11 locations across the country. With responsibility for the firm’s graduate recruitment programme she is particularly interested in the development and motivation of young people, and sits as a member of the Education and Training Committee of the Law Society in London. Carole is also Chair of Central College Nottingham and of Central College Academy Trust. Carole joined Council in 2013 and is a member of the University’s Finance Committee and Staffing Policy Committee.
