Health information and activities

  • Talks about nutrition and child health and safety from Leicestershire Partnership Trust
  • Paediatric first aid demonstrations from LPT
  • Doctors and experts from Paediatrics and the Children’s Hospital
  • Defibrillator training by Leicester University Community First Responders
  • Diabetes checks from the Leicester Diabetes Centre
  • Juicing and smoothie demonstrations from Together Against Cancer
  • CPR training from HeartWize
  • Relaxation and well-being in children workshops from the Wellbeing Crew
  • Teddy Bear Clinic: medical students will provide mini-health checks for stuffed animals and their owners (and parents)

  • Leicester City FC looks forward to underlining its relationship with the University and University Hospitals Leicester NHS Trust by hosting a stand at this event. Try your hand at inflatable penalty shoot-outs, and meet Filbert Fox himself (2.00pm-3.00pm).

  • Alice in Wonderland walkabout characters from Enter Edem
  • Arts and crafts from the Creation Station - worry dolls, play d'oh healthy pizza, pasta skeletons, foot and hand-print fruit and vegetable characters.
  • Bouncy castles - one for under-fives and one for older children
  • Fun science demonstrations
  • Outreach activities including ‘Brain Hats’ and ‘Heart Pumps’
  • Family cricket in the Danielle Brown Sports Centre 
  • Table tennis all day in the Danielle Brown Sports Centre

Leicester South Constituency Labour Party are hosting a community picnic immediately following ours, with live music, theatre, speeches and (of course) Birthday Cake to continue the celebration of the 70th Birthday of our NHS. They will process from Victoria Park at 3.00pm.
