Paul Gowdridge

Paul Gowdridge has been at the University of Leicester since January 2017, initially as Deputy Director with responsibility for Financial Reporting, Planning and Financial Accounting. In 2018, Paul’s role widened to include the operational aspects of the Finance Division and in April 2019; he was subsequently appointed Deputy Chief Financial Officer. In February 2020, Paul became Director of Finance, heading up the Finance Division.

Paul is responsible for all aspects of the Finance function from managing our income, value for money procurement of goods and services, timely payment of our invoices, overseeing taxation, managing payroll and pensions, supporting our budget holders via management accounting and financial planning processes and ensuring we fulfil our statutory financial reporting duties. The scope of responsibility also involves managing key stakeholders like our auditors and banks. Overall, he has a strong focus on ensuring that the Finance Division adds value and communicates clearly with its stakeholders.

Prior to joining the University Paul held a number of positions in the NHS, most recently a series of roles at the University Hospitals of Leicester (UHL) where ended his time in the NHS as Head of Financial Performance and Planning for UHL.
