Extended Dissertation

Module code: TS3007 (double module)

An introductory seminar will be given to discuss the potential topics for projects in Translation Studies and the steps of conducting such a project. You will then develop ideas of your own research projects, which will be presented and discussed with the module convenor and fellow students. Following this, you will produce a written plan for your dissertation, which will be discussed with your supervisor. Halfway through the term, there will be a presentation on progress, which will be commented on and marked. You will then complete the research and writing process, during which you will have supervision meetings with your supervisor.

Assessment

  • Dissertation plan, 500 words (20%)
  • Either dissertation, 10,000 words (80%)
  • Or translation, 5,000 words + commentary, 5,000 words (80%)
