There are various debates surrounding the use of digital media and technology in contemporary society, and you’ll be discussing the emergence of digital technologies, and evaluate the impact these have had on social and cultural interaction.
Evaluating the economic and social inequalities surrounding the global Digital Divide will also be a central part of the module, and what this means for the included and excluded individuals and communities.
Towards the end of the module you’ll look to the future of cybersociology. This will involve the emergence of wearable technologies, how these technologies are shaping our interactions and perceptions, and the advantages and disadvantages of digital technologies for social research.
