The politics of the United States is the scene of a bitter schism. The Republican and Democratic parties are arguably more divided than ever, and this is down to bitter division on fundamental issues in American society and foreign policy.

This module will show you how US politics has developed over time into what it is today. You'll look at major issues, faultlines and theoretical discussions of American politics.

By the end of the module, you'll be able to form arguments on the development of US politics. You'll also have in-depth knowledge of a major issue in contemporary American politics. Plus, you'll be able to critique causal arguments in written form while utilising information from a range of sources.
