Italy and the North 1550-1700

This module explores relations between Italian artists and their Northern counterparts in the period from 1550 to 1700, with a particular focus on Northern artists who were influenced by Italian art. As well as providing an introduction to many of the most important artists active in 17th century Europe, the module addresses such larger issues as the nature of artistic influence and the validity of the concept of national style.
