Power, Crime and Criminal Justice

This module involves a series of lectures and discussions that examine the relationship between crime, power and victimisation, focusing throughout on issues of gender and sexuality. It critically examines power imbalances in society, gender-based crimes that may occur as a result, their impact on victims and the adequacy of related criminal justice responses. It aims to provide a balance between theoretical perspectives and empirical research findings whilst also engaging with issues of activism.
