This module covers selected aspects of microbial biochemistry that are of particular importance to the commercial and environmental exploitation of micro-organisms. By understanding the central theories and concepts of selected aspects of microbial biochemistry and biotechnology, you will develop a reflective appreciation of the safety, social and ethical issues surrounding uses of micro-organisms in biotechnology.
